When we are weak, then we are strong
Following Christ is not easy. When we give our hearts and lives completely to Christ Jesus, we will experience backlash from others, including friends and family. While we will experience resistance from people, there is also a great sense of peace in surrendering our lives to Christ. When we allow Christ to take over, even though we will experience bumps and bruises, we open ourselves to the feeling of deep content in love and joy no matter what happens. We will be able to be thankful in both good times and in bad times.
Like Paul, we all have thorns in our sides. Sometimes these thorns are physical ailments. These thorns may also be other people, including family members, with whom we don’t see eye-to-eye or who may rub us the wrong way. Sometimes the thorns are our own doubts and temptations. As the Lord said to Paul, so the Lord says to us: “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9) Therefore, let us draw close to Christ and soak in his grace so that we may be “content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and constraints, for the sake of Christ; for when we are weak, then we are strong” in Christ Jesus. (2 Corinthians 12:10)
