Surrender your fears to Jesus
Fear shuts us down. Fear moves us to turn in on ourselves. We deafen our ears to the sounds around us and close our eyes to the world around us. We become silent, dried and withered, anxious, and despairing. We lose hope.
But God tells us “Fear not.” We do not have to be afraid. God is with us! God draws us out of ourselves and fills us with the springs of hope. God opens our eyes and ears to the possibilities around us. God moves us to speak and proclaim God’s goodness and faithfulness. God showers love and mercy into our hearts, pulling us out of anxiety and despair and refreshing us with God’s grace.
When we let go of our fear and trust God, He vindicates us, showing us how we are justified in Love. God indemnifies us, secures us against hurt, loss, fear, and despair. God never lets us go through struggles and sufferings alone. God is always with us! There is nothing that we experience that God will not carry us through.
It is not easy to let go of our fears. It takes a deep sense of trust in God. When people have broken our trust, it is very difficult to allow our hearts to trust in anyone, including God. But Jesus says to us, “Ephphatha! Be opened!” Jesus tells us, “Surrender your heart to me, and I will open it to hope, faith, and love. I will help you to trust again.”
We need to let go of our fear. We need to get out of the way and allow Jesus to remove our blindness, deafness, the impediments that keep us from living life fully and with hope. Let us surrender our hearts to Jesus and allow him to open our eyes and ears to God’s presence within us and around us. Let us place our trust in the One who is always with us and will never leave us to endure our sufferings alone.
